Course Description
With China’s development of the "Belt and Road”, the surge in cross-border investment and business growth is anticipated. The accompanying commercial disputes thus increase, so does enterprises’ demand for cross-border mediation services. On the other hand, the Supreme People’s Court is also actively promoting the reform of the Diversified Dispute Resolution Mechanism. Having been highly recommended by the Chinese Government, the tendency of adopting the Diversified Dispute Resolution Mechanism is expected in the Mainland.
The cross-border dispute resolution services provided by the International Dispute Resolution and Risk Management Institute (IDRRMI) combine the strengths of both international mediation and arbitration, so that the arbitral award can be applied and executed in more than 150 regions all over the world. The parties need not file the same litigation repeatedly in different jurisdictions. Mediation does not only save time and money, but it also helps enterprises maintain their reputations and partnerships. Therefore, mediation is advantageous and irreplaceable in terms of autonomy, confidentiality, compatibility, and flexibility, etc.
Aim of the Course
The Professional International Mediator Training Certificate Course (“The Course”), will equip participants with consolidated knowledge on the framework of the advanced dispute resolution system, including dispute prevention, dispute resolution and enforcement. Meanwhile, participants will also learn the conflict resolution process and the application of mediation skills in fostering effective communication among the parties in dispute to resolve conflicts systematically and effectively. Participants will have the opportunities to familiarise themselves with the approaches, strategies and communication/negotiation skills and to communicate as a professional mediators. The 50-hour, 5-day Course will be conducted in Cantonese supplemented with English, and consisted of multiple role-play sessions for participants to gain hands-on experience. The mediation role-play sessions at the Course will be coached by experienced mediators and renowned mediation trainers. The optimum ratio of a Trainer/Coach to participants is 1:4. The value of this Course weight on having international mediation experts and trainers share their extensive experience with the participants, consistency in the learning experience by practicing with the knowledge and skill immediately after learning them. At the end of The Course, participants are required to take part in the course-end assessment in order to complete the course.
After completing the course and passing the course-end assessment, the Course graduate is eligible to proceed to the Professional Mediator Qualification Accreditation organised by the International Dispute Resolution & Risk Management Institute (IDRRMI). Participants who successfully pass the said assessment will be qualified as International Accredited Professional Mediators (IAPM) of the IDRRMI. The profession of IAPMs is recognised by 280 organizations, government departments courts from Hong Kong, Mainland, and worldwide. They are qualified to practice mediations in Hong Kong, Mainland China, and overseas.

| Terms and Conditions | A. Registration must be made by returning the completed online application form via this Google Forms link and attaching payment proof (Crossed cheque, bank deposit slip or FPS payment record) before the application deadline. Confirmation emails will be sent upon successful applications within TWO working days after the application deadline. No refunds will be arranged in all circumstances after the confirmation notification is issued.
B. Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis according to valid applications. C. If an applicant has not received a confirmation email from the Secretariat of the Academy of International Dispute Resolution and Professional Negotiation (AIDRN) within TWO working days after the application deadline, the applicant will be on the waiting list. If AIDRN is unable to offer the applicant a place in the course, the Secretariat will cancel the cheque submitted by the applicant. If the application fee is paid by bank transfer, the Academy will issue a cheque to return the payment. D. Participants must sign in upon arrival and departure for attendance records. If a participant is late for more than 15 minutes, or leave more than 15 minutes early, he/she will not be qualified for the completion attendance requirement. E. Upon the official confirmation sent from the AIDRN, under no circumstance replacement course/ session would be arranged for any absentee in the class, nor does any refunds. If Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above, or Black Rainstorm Warning Signal is hoisted and remains in force within 2 hours before the class, the lesson will be postponed or cancelled.
